Prim Snowman

Here is a prim snowman I newly finished, to see more details on him including more pictures, go to my Etsy where he is now for sale.

two new ornaments and caramel pears!!

Here are my latest lollipop ornaments, a vintage looking snowman and a whimsical Elf! To see the details go to my ETsy link, I just posted them on there last night.

Take a look at this cute idea, I saw this online and loved it for Fall. These caramel pears are just as inviting if not more than apples, they would be fun twist on an all time fall favorite, and so pretty too!

This n That

Friends from my old stomping grounds just left from a 4 day visit, the arriving is wonderful, but the saying goodbye is always hard! We played games, visited, ate good food, shopped at Hobby Lobby and simply enjoyed our time.

I realized today that if I do not get in gear, I will not have enough cute snowmen, ornaments and what nots to sell for the Holidays, SIGH..... wasn't it so much easier to get tons done when I was in my 20's and 30's, YES!!! I am slow slow slow now. I do almost have a snowman and two ornaments done, will post them soon. I will also post a new recipe I got from my Mother, it is Kringle, YUMMY! what a delicious dessert and pretty easy to  make, really your company will be impressed too.

Here is such a neat thing I found online, makes you take pause... here it is.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. I am back...

Vacation to see my family was grand! I had an entire week filled with visits from friends and family, I can now let winter come and feel good about it! Of course, the worst part about going is the day you have to say goodbye, I don't do those very well. My week was blessed and I am grateful. I do need to embrace salads this week, I was fed way too good! Being home feels great, all my projects are here and ready for me to work on them, and after a break, I am ready!

I love sunflowers, and this time of year there are some pretty ones! I took this in the late afternoon, loved the way the sun was kissing the petals. When I put this photo in my editing program and started to fiddle with it, this lovely blue popped in the background, it was so pleasant I left it!

This was in one of my photography books and I LOVED IT, so I thought I would share it here. This applies to anything we try to accomplish and do well. Even if we don't all have the world at our doorsteps, we can cetainly try to achieve it. I am inspired by those artists I look up to, and know that they have accomplished this, good for them, we can all be encouraged by others success, they show us what is possible by hard work, and doing it better than anyone!

1. Do what you do- and do it well - and you'll have plenty of competition
2. Do what you do- and do it better than most- and you'll command an audience.
3. Do what you do - and do it better than anyone else - and you'll have the world at your doorstep.

Before I go...

Here is how far I am on my two latest ornaments, I thought I would share before I go on my vacation. The snowman on the left only has his hat painted, and the rest is primed and ready to be painted as well. The Elf on the right is drying and has yet to have paint applied, I do think he is going to be adorable done! The bottom will be painted like a chocolate candy kiss, maybe with some green mint stripes. I am not sure yet if his hat will have fur glued on the edge yet, and he will perhaps done a rusty bell on the end. I wanted to be a lot further on these by now, my intention was to have these on Pfatt for Sept. but that isn't going to happen.

I will be leaving tomorrow to visit my family who live some 300 miles away, it will be a long day of driving, but worth it, can't wait to see them. I will try to update when I am gone, but if not I will be back by sept. 13 ish.. I will not get much sleep dreaming of seeing my parents, son and brother in person, it has been so so long.

This is a fairly new blog, so I am excited to be getting a few more followers, thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who are following this blog, YOU are what makes this fun !! I will be rewarding my current followers as well as any who sign up  by having a drawing for a piece of my artwork, I am hoping to have this give away in the near future, stay tuned...

antique store finds

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!
This stash of shoes and beehive spool , are my latest antique store finds, I know it doesn't look very exciting, BUT I do have plans for it all. The spool will be part of an adorable scarecrow pattern I have. What I have in mind for the vintage skates, is possibly painting the finish, and making a snowman that will come out of the top, and of course there will be glass glitter and mica flakes! I can see it in my mind already. :-) The mary janes will end up on one of my dolls, and the vintage shoes will end up being incorporated with a doll or snowman sitting in the shoe. I am sure the lady at the store thought I was nuts when I brought all these shoes to the counter.
Another beautiful day done and gone here in Colville, from my window I see freshly cut and baled Alfalfa and beyond that the wheat field cut and harvested. The air smells so sweet of hay, it is simply wonderful! This day was also topped off with BBQ on the deck! I also had a bit of time to work on more ornaments today too. I made the mistake of sculpting an Elf on one of my lollipops, I say mistake because he was way too time consuming, has too much detail and it was a struggle, but in the end he is a cutie, I don't believe there will be many repeats of this Elf!
